Voice of the Martyrs

The Voice of the Martyrs is a non-profit, inter-denominational Christian organization dedicated to assisting the persecuted church worldwide. VOM was founded in 1967 by Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, who was imprisoned 14 years in Communist Romania for his faith in Christ. His wife, Sabina, was imprisoned for three years. In the 1960s, Richard, Sabina, and their son, Mihai, were ransomed out of Romania and came to the United States. Through their travels, the Wurmbrands spread the message of the atrocities that Christians face in restricted nations, while establishing a network of offices dedicated to assisting the persecuted church. The Voice of the Martyrs continues in this mission around the world today through the following main purposes:

To encourage and empower Christians to fulfill the Great Commission in areas of the world where they are persecuted for their involvement in propagating the gospel of Jesus Christ. We accomplish this by providing Bibles, literature, radio broadcasts, medical assistance, and other forms of aid.
To give relief to the families of Christian martyrs in these areas of the world.
To equip local Christians to love and win to Christ their enemies who are opposed to the gospel in countries where believers are actively persecuted for their Christian witness.
To undertake projects of encouragement, helping believers rebuild their lives and Christian witness in countries that have formerly suffered Communist oppression.
To emphasize the fellowship of all believers by informing the world of atrocities committed against Christians and by remembering their courage and faith.

Ukraine Missions Opportunity

You may remember Sara Wade, who has been serving full-time in the Ukraine. This winter she will be running a Christian Christmas camp and she needs supplies. This Sunday (11/1), and the next (11/8), there will be an opportunity to give money toward an item. We will only be collecting for two weeks to ensure a Christmas delivery. If you are interested, visit the table in the lobby. No shopping necessary:)

Rancho Santa Marta

We have a family mission trip going to Rancho Santa Marta in San Vicente, Baja, Mexico. The team will leave Friday, Nov 13th, and get back Nov 15th, in time for the Thanksgiving Potluck. The team will be carpooling; no bus will be going. For more info Email Steve Cazares .

Pour Out You Heart, this year’s women’s retreat, gets underway tomorrow evening! God is really going to do amazing things in some lives this weekend! Come and be ministered to by guest speaker, Shelly Cook Volkhardt, as well as led in worship by guest worship leader, Haley Montgomery. Check-in starts at 5PM and dinner is at 6PM. The main session starts at 7PM.

What is EPIC?

“These commandments that I give you today
are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk
about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the
road, when you lie down and when you get up.”! – (Deuteronomy 6 : 6-7)

Parents are the most influential in their child’s spiritual formation.
The church should be more intentional about equipping parents for
this task. E-P-I-C Family Nights will partner JCC and parents together
towards a plan of spiritual formation that can be practically lived
out in everyday life. It will connect families to what the church is
teaching children and provide the tools to carry out those teachings.
E-P-I-C will provide families with resources, practical ideas, examples
and experiences that will bring their family closer together.

January – Family Prayers
February – Your Family Team (wear your favorite team logo)
March – Obedience/Discipline/Boundaries
April – Serving as a Family

E-P-I-C Family Nights will consist of these components:

Games – All families will participate together on the game square. Games such
as Bean Head, Beanbag Toss, Grab Bag, Human Train, Do What it Says and more.

Family Learning/Experience – This time will be based on the months theme
such as “Where is my family going”. For this night each family member will
share with each other what their goals are. Anything from sports, career,
hobbies, spiritually, etc. Families will have an opportunity to share with the
entire group as well. Families will then go on a treasure hunt without a map
and very few clues. Then families will go on a treasure hunt with a detailed map.

Family Disscussion – Families will be given questions and thoughts to discuss
from the learning/experience time. Why is it faster to have specific directions.
What specific directions should you have to reach your goals. Draw a map
from where you are to your goal and steps to get there.
